Dorothy Mergen of Weirton, WV, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH. She was a daughter of the late Michael and Katie Mamula Wuyak. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Mergen, and brothers, Sam and George Wuyak. Dorothy retired as a secretary from the former Edgewood School after 17 years of service. Prior to working for the Brooke County Board of Education, she worked at the Weirton Steel general offices in the accounting department. Dorothy was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, St. Elizabeth’s Guild, WV Association of Retired School Employees, life member of Edgewood P.T.A., Brooke County Board of Education “Wall of Fame”, and past member of Beta Sigma Phi, Beta Nu Chapter. She is survived by her sons, Ronald and Richard Mergen, and daughter, Charlotte Mergen, all of Weirton. Friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am. Reverend Philip K. Van Dam will officiate. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
