John Russell Caruso, 82, of Weirton, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born December 16, 1936 in Burgettstown, PA, a son of the late Anthony and Pearl Kapatatinski Caruso. He was also preceded in death by his son Dale Edward Robinson in 1983, brother Ross Caruso and sister Patricia Hayes. John was an avid woodcrafter who enjoyed making puzzles. He always enjoyed small engine repairs, painting and, most of all, fishing with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Zelma Calder Caruso of Weirton; son David Wayne Robinson and his girlfriend Kelli of Barnesville, OH; daughters Denise (Joseph) Colson and Johnna Caruso all of Weirton; sister Mary Rose Mayhew of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 9 until the 11am funeral service at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. The Reverend Larry Barkley will officiate. Your dad drove my mom to the hospital when she went into labor for me. They thought I was going on be a boy and they were upset because they didn’t have a girl name picked out so your mom suggested my name, she had a relative named Johnna and of ouse my dad’s name is John so it worked beautifully.
