Mary Alice Kennedy

Mary Alice Kennedy, 87, of Weirton, WV, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV. Born February 15, 1930, in Mannington, WV, Mary was a daughter of the late Ernie and Maude Stevens Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Kennedy, on February 15, 2003 and her five sisters, Betty Lecomupt, Dorothy A. Corbin, Rose Terwilliger, Emma Stanley and Clara Koon. Mary enjoyed taking care of her family. She loved to cook and bake, and will always be remembered for her delicious peanut butter fudge, her cookies and her infamous cheeseballs. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with her family, friends, and neighbors. She found joy in planting flowers around her home, and watching butterflies float in the air. She was a member of the Oakland Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Grange Hall on Wylie Ridge, and a volunteer of the Weirton Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her four sons, Kenneth Kennedy and his wife Willadene of Weirton, John Kennedy and his wife Tammy of Newell, WV, Tom Kennedy of Weirton, and Bruce Kennedy of Germany; brothers, Bill Watson of Mannington and George Watson of Tennessee; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren, and one step great - great granddaughter. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM. Reverend Kevin Bowers will officiate.
