pete jones
Pete Jones, 75, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in the Weirton Medical Center. He was born March 18, 1943 in the old north end of Weirton, a son of the late Thomas and Sue Merkich Jones. For years, he worked at the former D & M Club which was later renamed the Embassy Club. Pete retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the Tin Mill, Open Hearth and was crew chief in the scrap yard. He was Serbian by faith and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2716 in Weirton. He served in the United States Army where he was a highly proficient sharp shooter. He always enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and deer in his backyard. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pamela J. Powelson Jones; son Thomas (Teresa) Jones; brother Jerry (Joan) Jones and sister Rose Isreal all of Weirton. In keeping with Pete’s wishes, there will be no visitation and his body will be cremated. Arrangements and cremation provided by Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton.
