robert kamppi
Robert Lee Kamppi, 77, of Weirton passed away Saturday June 16, 2018, at his home with his daughter and his dogs by his side. Born on January 5, 1941, in Albion, Pa, Robert was a son of the late Laurie and Ina Koski Kamppi. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John. An Air Force veteran, Robert retired from Weirton Steel with over 25 years of service in the Carpentry Shop. Kamppi as he was known to many family members and friends had battled long time health issues. Through all the years he and his daughter were the best of friends. They enjoyed spending time together watching car races, golf and his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers on TV. With all of his mechanical abilities he and his daughter often found enjoyment working on their cars and truck together. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and the American Legion Post 10 He will be remembered with love by his daughter, Nicola Lee “Nikki” Kamppi with whom he lived with; his two brothers, William Kamppi (Janet) of New Manchester, WV, and James Kamppi (Vickie) of Beaufort, SC; his sister, Joyce Rock of Weirton, WV; and his two rescue dogs, Maxximus and Marley. Visitation will be 11 AM until 1 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery, Paris, PA. Robert and his daughter would like to thank Dr. Sean Nolan, and Amy Butts PA/CDE for all their care and expertise throughout the years.
