frank decaria
Frank Domenic DeCaria, 73, of Weirton passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, during heart surgery at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pa. Born on April 24, 1944 in Steubenville, OH, Frank was a son of the late Domenic and Inez Tripoli DeCaria. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delores “Dee” Matazinski DeCaria on February 4, 2017. Frank graduated from Weirton Madonna High School and furthered his education at West Virginia University, Saint Vincent’s College, and Duquesne University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War stationed in the Pentagon in Washington, DC. An intelligent man, and hard worker, Frank spent most of his career as a butcher/ meat cutter and co- owner of The International Market. He enjoyed taking care of his customers. Through the years, Frank never forgot a good customer of the store. He will always be remembered for his polite and happy nature. In his retirement years, Frank found his niche in life by taking care of others, driving people to their appointments and helping the less fortunate with food and supplies. He enjoyed attending daily mass and most recently being a part of the church’s bereavement group. But most of all Frank had pride in his family and his Italian heritage. He loved being a”DeCaria”, and was the historian for the family. A talented piano player, Frank found relaxation in reading books, listening to opera and watching classic cinema. He will be remembered with love by his son, Domenic DeCaria (Amanda) of Lemoyne, PA; his brothers, Charles DeCaria of Weirton, WV, and Vincent J. DeCaria (Laverne) of Moon Township, PA; his sisters, Teresa Starvaggi (Emanuel) of Weirton, WV, Dr. Concetta DeCaria of New York, NY, and Maria Bethel(Kelly) of East Springfield, OH; and his two grandchildren who he adored, Alex and Tori DeCaria. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Sunday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with United States Army conducting military honors. 7. To the Family of Dear Frank,
We are beyond shocked and so saddened to hear of his sudden passing….
Frank is part of some of my fondest childhood memories at International Market – as one of the people who could actually understand and converse with my mom. I am very grateful that I had a chance to reminisce about this, and so much more, at Alice & Tony’s Christmas party just a few month ago.
Had we would learned of this sad news sooner, we would have been honored to be present at Frank’s funeral services. We are so, so sorry. Our most heartfelt condolences to the entire family.
May you rest in eternal peace and happiness of our Lord, Frank. You will be missed.

  8. Dear Theresa and DeCaria Family, We were all deeply sadden by Franks death. The Ference Family and the DeCaria’s go as far back as our grand parents. Then of course, our parents and then the schools where we attended. All of us girls graduated from Madonna with 1 or 2 or 3 DeCaria’s in their class. Frank graduated with my sister and husband from Madonna. We all have fond memories of Frank and the family. You never met a nicer man. Hope his memories will sustain you in this time of loss.
