Our Cremation Safeguards

At The Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, we provide experiences that celebrate life. We know that togetherness and having a shared, uplifting service experience with family, friends, and neighbors help healing begin.

Weirton’s Only Onsite Crematory

Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home and cremation service is now the only locally owned funeral home in Weirton. We are also the only cremation service provider in Weirton that owns & operates its own crematory onsite.

Our Standards of Excellence

1) Your Loved One Is Always Cared For By Our Professionals

While every funeral home offers cremation services, you should be aware not all own a crematory and take the same care with the process. Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home has an onsite crematory and carefully designed procedures which are accountable and every step is managed by our staff.

2) Tracking System

Every step of your loved one’s care is documented in our tracking system and they will be assigned a unique identification number, which is stamped into a stainless steel identification disc. This number is used to track every phase of the cremation process. Our tracking system includes date and time of arrival at our facility and name of the transfer technician. Personal belongings are cataloged and placed in a secure area for their return to the family.

3) Authorizations

State law requires completion of authorization forms which we will provide to you and help you complete. In addition, we will see to it that all permits and paperwork are completed prior to cremation taking place.

4) Our Cremation Process

We only cremate one person at a time and our cremation chamber is never used for pets and animals. The metal identification tag is safeguarded during the cremation process.

5) Transfer Back To You

The only time your loved one leaves the care of our staff is when the cremated remains are transferred back your family. The number on the tag will be part of our company’s record keeping archive.
