pearl (munyas) palanza
Pearl (Munyas) Zak Palanza, 94, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Weirton, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her home. She was born October 29, 1922 in Weirton, a daughter of the late George R. and Pauline Zatezalo Munyas. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Zak, brothers George and Rudolph Munyas and sisters Stella Grysko and Mary Mrvos. Pearl was a homemaker, a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the former Pleasant Valley Country Club. She was also past-president of both the WV and local Easter Seal Society. Pearl is survived by her husband Antonio C. Palanza of Boca Raton, whom she married March 19, 1991; son Robert J. (Kristy) Zak of Charleston, WV; daughter Jerilynn (Gordon) Ommen of White Bear Lake, MN; nephew Bob Mrvos of Weirton; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren with three more expected soon. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:30 until the 11:30am funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. The Very Reverend Father Rade Merick will officiate. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals of WV, 1305 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003 or Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 North 4th Street, Steubenville, OH 43952.

  1. I will miss you aunt pearl.so many good memories of my childhood and growing up on Marland hgts.4 th July in her back yard.i have been so blessed to have the family I did.she was my last aunt.rest in peace.sympathy and love to cousin Jeri and Joe.

  3. I just found out last night about Pearl Zak’s passing. I was chatting with Fran Fusiek about our Collins Way neighbors. Pearl and Joe were great neighbors to grow up with. They never complained when my dog Peppy would crash their backyard cook outs. 😁 I was happy see that she had a long life and I hope it was happy.
