Virginia R. Starr, 88, of Weirton, WV died Monday August 25, 2008, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Virginia was born on August 1, 1920, in McDonald, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Simone Gosseaux Hale. She was also preceded in death by her husband George H. Starr in 1975; her grandson, Robert S. Starr; her sister and brother in law Lorraine and James Bailey. Virginia retired from the Hancock County Board of Education, where she was the Weir High School secretary for 22 years. She was a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class; Hancock County Retired School Employees; life member of the Weirton Heights Elementary School PTA; four seasons' senior citizens. Virginia is survived by her three sons, David H and Johanna Starr , George M and Linda Starr all of Weirton, Robert A. and Rhonda Starr of Prattsville, AR; her two daughters, Patricia and Donald MacLachlan, Kathy and Bill McDiffitt all of Weirton; her two sisters, Simone and Charles Frankenfield of Weirton, WV and Desiree' and Harold Daugherty of Lancaster, PA; her brother, Frank D and Dottie Hale of Lorton, VA; her grandchildren, Renee' (Greg) Salkovich, David M. (Amy) Starr, Cody Starr, Cynthia MacLachlan, Adam and Desiree McDiffitt, Michael and Christopher Starr; her step grandchildren, Gary (Timmie) Battista, Thomas (Angela) Battista, David, Aaron and Nicholas Hunt; eight great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where services will be held 11 AM Thursday with Rev. William C. Stout presiding . Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association 1299 Pineview Drive Suite 3 Morgantown, WV 26505
