Joseph Mario Paris, 85, died peacefully at the Weirton Geriatric Center on Friday, October 11, 2024. Born on September 15, 1939, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Antoinette Gallo Paris.

A proud 1957 graduate of Weir High School, Joe later served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves, with a brief tour of duty during the Vietnam Conflict.

His loyalty and work ethic shone throughout his career at the Weirton Steel Corporation, where he dedicated over thirty years of service in the Tin Mill before his retirement.

Joe was a man of deep faith, regularly attending St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. Joe was known for his sharp mind and his recollection of any public or family fact from the past.

He was an avid record collector, loving all types of music, but especially movie scores and Abba. Joe loved watching professional football and discussing it with his friends, but he was truly a homebody at heart, cherishing life’s simple pleasures in his hometown of Weirton.

Joe will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, steadfast loyalty, and love for his family, community, and faith.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Tom, John, and Gilda Paris, Lena Kevari and Rose Dicks, Half siblings Ben, Michael, Herman, Tony and Sr. Carmen Paris, Vera Wellman, Sr. Mary Edwin.

Joseph is survived with love by his niece Marie Powers of Branson, Missouri, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Joseph’s visitation on Friday, October 18, from 9:30-10:30 am at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton.

Fr. Binu Sebastian will preside.

Burial will follow immediately in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church.

  1. Candle Selection 2I am so very sorry for your loss. Joe was my next door neighbor of about 11 years and was the nicest guy ever. Back when Joe was able to drive and had his car you would see him walking and when you did you knew he was walking over to the Coffee Bean to get a coffee. If I was outside when he would be coming back he would hold up his cup and just smile. He will be missed dearly.

  2. Diane & Carl Lane. We enjoyed the porch time we shared with Joe during our first years of being his neighbor. He liked talking sports and would walk over whenever he saw Carl sitting out.. such a nice person and will be missed for sure…
