jacqueline karnek

Jacqueline “Jackie” Karnek, 77, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her adoring family after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was the loving wife of Steven Karnek.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence Magilson; her spirited brothers, Chick, Jim, and Buddy; and dear niece, Theresa.

She was the proud mother of Jeanine and James (Jennifer) Bogdan, but it was in her role as grandmother to Isabella, Jameson, and Genevieve that brought her immeasurable joy, and boundless pride in their accomplishments.

Jackie is survived by her sisters, Janice (Joe) Ising, Maggie, and Sue (Scott) Malley; her sisters-in-law, Maxine Magilson and Linda (Jim) Meinzer; eleven nieces and nephews; and twelve great-nieces and nephews.

A 1966 graduate of Langley High School, Jackie will be remembered for her kindness and compassion. She was a dog lover, an expert in making pierogies and nut horns, and a steadfast caregiver who served our nation’s veterans for 25 years as a nurse at Pittsburgh’s VA Hospital.

In accordance with Jackie’s wishes, there will be no public viewing. Her family will honor her life privately.

In lieu of flowers, she would appreciate contributions be made to K9s for Warriors, supporting veteran PTSD with service dogs, or the Breast Cancer Center at the St. Clair Hospital Foundation.

Jackie’s request for cremation will be honored.

She will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
