Born in:
Weirton , WV
Resided in:
Weirton, WV
Born in Weirton, WV, Courtney Christine Oxley was known for her larger-than-life personality, contagious laughter, and fierce loyalty. Courtney did not walk into a room—she arrived.
She was bold, boisterous, bubbly, and wore her spirit like a banner—unfiltered and fearless.
She was loud—always heard before she was seen.
But once you saw her, you could not look away.
Her smile warmed the space, and her energy pulled people in like gravity.
She did not fade into the background. She was the background—and the spotlight too.
Courtney was a loving mother to three incredible children who meant the world to her. Her kids were her joy, her laughter, and her strength through life’s hardest moments. She loved them with every part of her.
She loved hard and protected even harder. Those lucky enough to be loved by her knew what it meant to have someone in their corner—loudly and unapologetically.
Courtney believed in fighting for what mattered, even when it broke her heart. She carried more than most could see, but still found ways to laugh, to love, and to hold onto the people she cared about.
She once said she liked the idea of becoming a tree-and in her passing, we find a quiet kind of peace in honoring that wish with a natural burial surrounded by the earth she loved.
It feels right, somehow, Courtney returning to the wild. She was always a little untamed. A little fierce. A little free.
In the end, it is not just a goodbye. It is a return to the part of the world that matched her spirit.
Courtney is survived by her children, Lucas, Charlotte, and Walter; her mother, Tammy Grossenbach; her father, Noah John Oxley III; her sisters, Kimberly Oxley and Jennifer Oxley; her half-siblings, Matthew (Rebecca) Lucas and Jordan Oxley; her paternal grandmother, Betty Oxley; her maternal step grandfather, Ronnie Kinney; her nephew, Hunter; and many more family and friends who will miss her indefinitely.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Noah John Oxley IV; her maternal grandmother, Betty Kinney; her paternal grandfather, Rev. Noah John Oxley, Jr.; and her paternal great-grandfather, Noah John Oxley, Sr.
A celebration of life will be held as a graveside service at 5:00p p.m., at Paris Cemetery on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, 2 Steubenville Pike, Paris, PA 15021.
Pastor James Rhodes will officiate.

Courtney… the pain I feel for your loss is immeasurable. I miss you so much. I have so much I wish I could say to you. I am so grateful for the time we did get and for having the privilege of getting to know you personally. I don’t know think this pain will ever lessen, but I know the love you gave and light you shined on others will last forever. Your smile, your laugh, your energy will stay with me for my whole life. I love you so much. My condolences to your family during this tragic time. Gone but never forgotten. Rest easy, beautiful.
What a beautiful obit, and spot on. Always searching for the true & good in life, but fate has a way of blinding us to the wrong people. This girl wasn’t just liked, she was LOVED. And there are so many broken hearted friends that will miss her every day it is impossible to fathom. My condolences to Tammy, the children, & her many “sisters”.
