Sheena Herron of New Cumberland peacefully departed this life on September 22, 2025, at UPMC Mercy, after a brief illness.

She was born on June 14, 1941, in the charming town of Jedburgh, Scotland, to John and Wilhelamina Bruce. A proud Scotswoman, Sheena carried her heritage with grace and love as she made her home in the United States.

Sheena shared her life with her beloved husband, David Herron, until his passing on October 3, 2006. Together, they created a vibrant family filled with laughter and love, a legacy she cherished deeply.

Her family was the light of her life, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

In her twilight years, Sheena found comfort in watching her favorite shows on Brit Box, nostalgically reminiscing about her youth and the country she held dear. Her family often marveled at her candid opinions, for she was never one to shy away from expressing her thoughts—qualities that earned her the well-deserved title of the matriarch of the family, as lovingly noted by her daughter Zandra.

Traveling throughout Europe in her younger days, Sheena relished the experiences of visiting some of the world’s most renowned destinations. Her appreciation for life was mirrored in her love for good food, often spending time at DJs in Weirton, sharing delicious meals with family and friends. Known for her culinary talents, she delighted her loved ones with her homemade shortbread and her almost world-famous bean soup—a dish that will forever be a cherished memory.

Sheena’s sense of humor brightened every room she entered. Her spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and Husband Dave, Sheena was preceded in death by her brother, James Bruce.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Laura (Dale) Walker of Weirton, Zandra (Jeremy) Burton of Penn Hills, sister, Rena Anderson of England, grandchildren Kyle(Melissa) and Christopher (Lacey)Mills, and Lily Forsythe, great-grandchildren, Kolton, Garrett, and Jocelynn Rheinhardt, and Parker and Oakley Mills.

Sheena’s wish for cremation will be honored.

She will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.

Services will be held at the convenience of Sheena’s family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheena’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
