Dominic Joseph DiBello, 91, of Tiltonsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and compassion. Born on February 17, 1935, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the second of four children born to the late Frank and Virginia Coppa DiBello.
Dominic was a member of the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry, where his faith became a guiding force in his life. He was open about learning from the mistakes of his earlier years and embraced a life centered on his love for Jesus Christ. That faith shaped the man he became; someone who would do anything for anyone and who genuinely cared for others. His kindness was evident in his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, where he gave his time to help those in need.
A proud veteran, Dominic served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Following his military service, he dedicated 42 years of hard work to Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, where he was employed as a scrap burner until his retirement.
Dominic had a lifelong passion for tennis. Whether playing on the court or watching matches on television, the sport brought him great joy. Remarkably, he continued playing the game he loved until just a few years ago.
Known for his sense of humor and warm personality, Dominic had a way of making others smile. He was especially cherished by his daughter Ann, who proudly called him her hero.
In addition to his parents, Dominic was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony “Tony” DiBello.
He is survived by his children, Ann Vickers, Marie Hartland, Joseph DiBello, and Martin DiBello; his brother, Frank DiBello; his sister, Rosalie Muzzi; and four grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service 12 noon on Thursday at the First Christian Church 710 S Zane Highway in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where a luncheon will follow the service.
Pastor Rod Kasler will preside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any organization that supports children in need, reflecting Dominic’s generous spirit and lifelong concern for others.
