mary mcabee

Mary Louise McAbee passed away peacefully at her home in Weirton on May 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 25, 1944, in Weston, WV, to Goff and Willa Golden Cole.

Mary graduated from Follansbee High School in 1962 and later married George Wesley McAbee on January 21, 1965, with whom she shared fifty-four wonderful years. A woman of deep faith, Mary nourished her spirit at The Voice of Pentecost, where she brought joy to others by sharing God’s word and playing the piano.

Mary found solace in the beauty of nature, tending to her flowers and embracing the joy of nice weather. Throughout her life, she created lasting memories on family trips to Myrtle Beach and Cass Railroad, adventures that brought her much happiness.

A lover of Gospel music, Mary often filled her home with melodies that reflected her joyful spirit. She was also known for her culinary skills, particularly her renowned vegetable soup, which brought warmth and comfort to family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George Wesley McAbee, who sadly passed away on August 8, 2019, brother Charles Cole, brothers-in-law Ronald Vespaziani and John McIe.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter Wendy (Dave) Kennedy of Weirton, brother Kessler Cole, and sisters Karen Vespaziani and Norma McIe, grandchild Darcey Lynn Stanley, and great-grandchildren Kayley and Miley Stanley.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, on May 22, 2026.

Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10 am until the time of the 11 am funeral service at the Voice of Pentecost, 106 Mendenhall Street, Weirton.

Pastor Rob Holley will officiate.

Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In this time of reflection, let us come together to celebrate Mary’s life, her unwavering faith, and the love she shared with all.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

  1. Candle Selection 8Our families have been intermingled since I was young. As an adult I had an opportunity to know you better, when we ended up attending the same church. What I remember most is how friendly and interested you were. Always taking the time to chat. Always smiling and laughing. There was a running joke between me and my husband when I needed to go to Walmart. All I had to say is.. “It’s time to go see Mary.” 😊 He knew what I meant because oddly we seemed to run into you every time! I’ve missed standing in the store, dodging passing shoppers, chatting and catching up. I’ve thought about you often.
.. Enjoy Jesus my friend. ❤️
