thomas fante

Thomas (Tom) Fante, 89, of Weirton, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

Tom was married to our mother, Donna (Kerr) Fante, for 64 years. Until his final days, he would say he was married to the prettiest girl in the room, and he was right. Our father did not talk about the virtues of hard work, integrity, and loyalty; instead, he demonstrated those virtues each day of his life.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Liberty State College and dedicated 40 years to the growth and profitability of Weirton Steel Corporation. He served as General Manager of Weirton Steel’s Transportation, Fuels, Utilities, and General Services departments for much of his career. Never one for an idle moment, he retired from Weirton Steel and quickly became the favorite associate at Donna Fante Realty, where he held an associate broker’s license. Our father happily served in any role to support “The Boss,” his wife and best friend.

Tom encouraged his wife and his children to take risks, to grow, and to do so with integrity. He believed in our potential, and he pushed us to learn. Our father was a humble man of few words. He loved through action. He had a soft heart that few saw, but many benefited from. He did kind deeds anonymously and was happier out of the spotlight, shining the light on others.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Donna (Kerr) Fante, and his four children: Sheree Dziatkowicz (George), Tommy Fante (Karen), Jeanmarie Clavier (Mark), and Rashell Gamble (Tobin). He will be missed by his grandchildren: Alexis Dziatkowicz Littleton (Joseph Jr.), Tommy, Taylor, Tiffany, and Trevor Fante, Kevin, Steven, and Michael Clavier, Cole and Cassidy Gamble, and one great-grandchild, Luca Littleton. He is also survived by his sister, Ellen Reese.

In addition to his parents, Marziale and Anna (Piccoli) Fante of Torricella Peligna, Italy, Tom was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn McCormick, Ann Yuhas, and Mary Jean Kocher, and his brother, Nick Fante.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, WV.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Weirton, WV, followed by burial services at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV.

Though he will be greatly missed, the lessons he lived and the love he gave will be carried forward by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street Weirton, WV 26062
