Terry Lee Waugh

Terry Lee Waugh, 81, of Weirton passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at WVU Medicine – Weirton Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Terry was born on January 5, 1945, in Follansbee, West Virginia, one of eight children born to Lowell Otis and Edna Bennett Waugh.

Terry graduated from Follansbee High School, where he met the love of his life, Judith Ann “Judy” Nichols. They were married on May 25, 1968, and complemented each other beautifully throughout their life together. They were blessed with three sons, three grandsons, and, in time, great-grandchildren. Together they shared a lifetime of love, family, friends, and memories.

In December 1965, Terry enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He trained as a radar specialist and was stationed in the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific. His military service remained a source of great pride throughout his life, and Terry was always proud to be a United States Army veteran.

Following his military service, Terry returned home and resumed his career with Weirton Steel, where he worked for 37 years. He began as a rigger in the mill, later worked in the Electrical Shop, and retired from the Tin Mill Crane Repair Shop.

Terry was a man who never needed many words to show people who he was. He was loyal, strong, stoic and humble; a hardworking man of great integrity who devoted himself to providing for and caring for his family. Quiet by nature, he showed his love through what he did: working hard, taking care of his home, helping others and always being there for the people who mattered most to him.

Terry took great pride in everything he did. His cars were always detailed and shined, especially his treasured 1941 Studebaker, and his yard was always beautifully kept. These simple details reflected the pride he took in his home and the care he put into everything he did.

Terry was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, an antique car club, and Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Nichols Waugh, on July 7, 2014; his three brothers, Walter “Bud,” David, and Marvin “Marney” Waugh; his sister, Nancy Harris; and his brother-in-law, Michael Petrovich.

Terry will be remembered with love and admiration by his three sons, Bill Waugh, Bryan (Julie) Waugh, and Brad Waugh; his sisters, Marlene Garrett, Betty Mossor, and Marilee Morriston; his grandsons, Brandon (Emily), Ryan (Grace, fiancé), and Lucas Waugh; and great-grandchildren; his wife’s twin sister, Janice Petrovich; nieces and nephews; and many other family, friends, and loved ones.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, service and love. His quiet strength, humility and devotion to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 25, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, with the Reverend Father Dennis Schuelkens, Jr. presiding.

Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, with military honors conducted by the West Virginia Army National Guard and American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation or American Legion Post 10 in Weirton.
