Betty Lou (Carr) Dye

Betty Lou (Carr) Dye, 81, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Weirton Geriatric Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 9, 1945, in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, Betty was the beloved matriarch of her family and devoted her life to those she loved. Her family was always at the heart of everything she did, and she treasured the time they spent together.

Betty especially enjoyed cooking meals for her family and bringing everyone together around the table. Those gatherings were about much more than food; they were opportunities to share stories, laughter, and love. The meals she prepared and the memories made around her table will remain a treasured part of her family’s memories for generations to come.

A Christian by faith, Betty had a strong belief in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was an important part of who she was and guided the way she lived her life.

Throughout her life, Betty made her home in several local communities, including Colliers, West Virginia; Irondale, Ohio; and Weirton, West Virginia, where she spent her later years.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald L. Dye Sr.; her sisters, Anna Mae, Virginia, and Mary Ann; her brothers, David and Ernie; her daughter-in-law, Tracy; and her great-grandson, George Dye III.

She is survived by her three children, Crystal Gajtka (Dye) and her husband, James, of Weirton, West Virginia; George Dye Sr. and his significant other, Pearl, of Steubenville, Ohio; and Ronald “RJ” Dye Jr. of East Liverpool, Ohio.

Betty is also survived by her stepdaughters, April Courneya and Melissa Daugherty; her four grandchildren, Jessica Gajtka Daniels and her husband, Ryan, of Brilliant, Ohio; Rachael Dye of New Cumberland, West Virginia; George Dye Jr. and his fiancée, Anastasia, of Steubenville, Ohio; and Ronald Danielson and his wife, Kelcea, of Steubenville, Ohio.

She is also survived by her sisters, Peggy and Harriett, as well as her many beloved great-grandchildren, who brought additional love and joy to her life.

Betty’s family will carry her memory, her faith, and the love she so freely gave them in their hearts for generations to come.

Friends and relatives will be received on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, West Virginia, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Sunnybrook floor at the Weirton Geriatric Center for the compassionate care they provided to Betty during her time there, treating her with the kindness and love of family.
