Thomas Joseph Tarowsky, devoted husband, father, and esteemed educator, passed away at Trinity West on September 8, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born on December 10, 1948, in Steubenville, Ohio, he was a son of Joseph Thomas and Anna Warhola Tarowsky.
Thomas graduated from Weir High School in 1966. He pursued his passion for education, earning a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University before furthering his studies at Duquesne University, where he obtained a master’s degree in counseling. He dedicated many years to Belmont Technical Institute, where he served as Dean of Students and positively impacted the lives of countless students and faculty alike.
A Roman Catholic by faith, Thomas was a member of St. Paul’s Church and served his country proudly in the United States Army Reserve 463rd Battalion, Company B.
Beyond his commitment to education, Thomas held a deep belief in community service, volunteering for over ten years with the Weirton Volunteer Fire Department #1 and serving as a former member of the Martins Ferry Rotary Club. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he proudly cheered for all the Pittsburgh teams, the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
In his retirement years, he served as education program director at the Cockayne Farmstead in Glen Dale, WV, under the Marshall County Historical Society.
Thomas had a heart for adventure and traveled extensively throughout the United States, including a memorable journey to the United Kingdom, where he had the opportunity to visit Wales and Ireland.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his infant brother, Robert Tarowsky.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Judi Tarowsky of Weirton, his son, Guy Joseph “Joe” ( Gayle) Tarowsky of Pittsburgh; and his sister, Dolores (Leonard) Ginier.
Friends can visit Thomas’ family on Friday, September 18, from 11:00 am until the time of his 1:00 pm Liturgy of the Word Service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
Fr. Binu Sebastian will preside.
Thomas will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Weirton.
