Gail Lynn Craig Tennant, a daughter, devoted mother, and friend to many, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at WVU-WMC.
Born on January 8, 1960, in Washington, PA, she was the only daughter of John and Elva Riggle Craig.
Gail graduated from Brooke High School in 1978 and dedicated over four decades of her life to the medical field, recently retiring after forty-four years of service at WVU-WMC, where she worked tirelessly in the Nursing Office.
A straight shooter at heart, Gail was known for her frankness and her ability to forge connections; she truly did not know a stranger. Her candid nature often meant offering her opinion, whether solicited or not, and she had little patience for foolishness.
In her leisure time, Gail found joy in her two card clubs, where camaraderie and laughter flourished. Earlier in her life, she savored the thrill of four-wheeling and camping at the picturesque Black Water Falls in West Virginia. A true child of the 70s and 80s, she loved the legendary tunes of Bob Seger and Journey.
She also supported and cheered on all the Pittsburgh professional sports teams, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.
Gail’s greatest treasure was her daughter, Abby, with whom she shared a bond that was both profound and unbreakable. In recent weeks, she embraced her role as a new dog owner, lavishing love upon Jax, her adorable Yorkie, who quickly became a cherished member of the family.
Gail will be lovingly remembered for her vibrant spirit and her authentic approach to life. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Abby Tennant.
In addition to her parents, Gail was sadly preceded in death by her husband, Danny, on September 19, 2017.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Abby Tennant, of Follansbee; brother John Craig of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many admiring friends throughout the community and her extended family at WMC.
Friends may visit Gail’s family on Friday, October 9, from 1-5 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

Your mom was awesome! I worked with her for 3 of her four decades at WMC. I will always remember her fondly! I am so very sorry for your loss.
In sympathy,

As a brand new nurse in 1982, I met Gail at WMC. We worked in the same unit… she was funny, loyal, and hard working throughout her life. Im so glad we stayed close and in the same building. She had a lot to deal with along the way but she never waivered and worked through it all. We lost a good one…
Gail was a wonderful friend and always a part of the Black family. She and Dan always made special trips to visit Clyde and I. I enjoyed our heart to heart talks, as she was the best listener. She will be missed by many. Our sympathy and prayers to Abby.
