Elizabeth “Marge” Walley, 79, of Weirton died Thursday May 10, 2007 as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.
She was born on January 2, 1928 in Weirton, WV, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kelchak. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers, George, Mike, Paul and John; and her sister, Mary Karnich.
Marge was a homemaker, a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She was an avid bowler, placing second in the Nationals Double Tournament of the W.I.B.C. She enjoyed coaching girl’s softball for the Weirton Baseball Association and the Termite League in Paris, PA. She supported the Special Olympics and donated all of her trophies to be used for awards for the participants. She and her husband loved going to garage sales and, most of all, wintering in Florida with their boys.
She is survived by her husband, Richard V. Walley, whom she married on August 1, 1959; her three sons, Richard Walley and Alexandra Diaz of Tampa, FL, Patrick Walley and his fiancé of Jacksonville, FL, and William Y.(Bill) Deerfield and his wife Deb of San Diego, CA; her sister, Ann Jessic of Warren, Michigan.
Visitation will be Wednesday 10 AM until time of memorial services at 11 AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
I would like to offer my heart felt sympathy to the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Your mother was a wonderful lady– she will be greatly missed.
Richard, Patrick and Richard We cannot tell you how saddened we are by the passing of Marge. From St Paul Church in Weirton, to visiting with Marge and Richard in Tampa, we always enjoyed her company so much. Marge was so pround of her family and enjoyed the time together with them every winter. Please know you are in our hearts and prayers.
