Jack L. Brown of Weirton, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was seventy-six years old.

He was born in Cadiz, OH., on March 10, 1947, a son of Robert Brown and Jessie (Dovie) Marshall and stepfather Frank Marshall.

Jack retired from Weirton Steel in 1994, he was a certified welder in the Steel Works Department and a Multi-Craft Instructor at WSX Training Center and Jefferson Community College in Steubenville.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers Tom and Robert Brown, and sister Joan Craig.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of thirty-four years, Penny Shingleton Brown, his sons Bryan and Drew Brown and Justin and Jeremy Tate, all of Weirton, his five grandchildren whom he cherished, Harley Nichole, and Kaylin Rae Brown, Jaden and Ryan Tate, and Kamden Larimer, sisters Theresa “Dolly” Young of Wintersville and Sandy Glover of Brookfield, OH., and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was a loving husband, father, and most importantly, “Pappy Jack” to all his grandkids. His sense of humor, wit, and the importance of family made up the wonderful man that was Jack.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Greco Hertnick Weirton, WV., where his funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM.

Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Reverend Larry Barkley will officiate.

    My deepest sympathies in the loss of your big brother. It leaves a huge hole in your heart! I lost my big brother in 2017 and nit a day goes by that I don’t think of and or pray for him. May you find peace, my friend, knowing that her now rests comfortably in the arms of Jesus.
