Kenneth Allen Sparks, 65, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on December 18, 1958, he was the beloved son of Therman Allen and Alice Virginia Fields Sparks.

A proud graduate of Weir High School’s Class of 1978, Kenneth went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1980 until his discharge in 1984. His dedication to his country was matched only by his love and devotion to his family. His granddaughters were the apple of his eye, and Kenneth never missed an opportunity to attend their activities, always finding time to be present for them.

Kenneth found joy in working around his home, earning the well-deserved title of “Mr. Fix-It.” He was a car enthusiast and had been in the midst of rebuilding a 1935 Ford, a labor of love he shared with his fellow car show friends, often gathering with them at Eat’n Park to swap stories and share their passion for classic cars.

His love for the music of the 1960s and 70s was a constant presence in his life, offering him moments of nostalgia and joy. Kenneth also dedicated his time to supporting the Studio B Dance Studio in Weirton, where he played a pivotal role in building props, expanding spaces, and ensuring the studio had everything needed for its members to thrive.

Most of all, Kenneth cherished his time at home with his wife, Shelly, creating a life full of love, laughter, and memories that will remain in the hearts of his family forever.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister Georgia Backus and step-son James ‘Timmy” Noel, great-niece Casey Gates, and cousin Ronald Pittman.

Remembering him with love and complete admiration is his wife Shelly Ford Sparks whom he married on April 24, 2004, stepson Eric Noel, brother-in-law William “Bill” Ford, granddaughters, Gabrielle and Elliana Noel, nieces Valerie (Joseph) Maloney, Karen (Darian) McKinney, Tina (Jerry) Paul, great nieces Amber Lonetti, Brandi Gates, Koryna McKinney, Macey Mc Kinney, Jessica Paul, great-great nieces Evelyn Lonetti, Nora Boyd, great-great nephews, Clayton Lonetti, Archer Lonetti, and Matthew McKinney and many close cousins.

Private family services will be conducted at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens

Military Honors will be conducted by the WV Army National Guard and American Legion Post #10 Honor Guard.
