Lena L. (Riggs) Jones, 97, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare in Washington, Pa. She was born on May 19, 1924, to the late Joshua and Margaret (Evans) Riggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald K. Jones, her son Stanley K. Jones, and her seven siblings: Geraldine McNeal; Zelma Cassella; Violet Cole; Alberta Meszaros; Jean Adams; Katherine Morgan; and Lonny Riggs. She was a proud homemaker and faithfully attended the Church of Christ for the majority of her life. Lena is survived by her children Marge (Carl) Chiarenza of McMurray, Pa., and Ron (Gale) Jones of Weirton; daughter-in-law Gloria Jones of McDonald, Pa.; her seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton. The family requests that all visitors to the funeral home wear a mask and practice social distancing.
