Mary Redish

Mary Redish, 93, of Weirton passed away Monday August 25, 2014, at the Carriage House in Steubenville, OH. Born December 26, 1920 in Weirton, WV Mary was the daughter of the late Anestis and Hrissanthi Kiriazis Sava. She was also preceded in death by her God Parents, who raised her, George and Eftihia Leonidou; her husband, Michael F. Redish; her son in law, George F. Drane; and her brother, George Sava. For a period of time, Mary was a tin flopper in the Weirton Steel Steubenville Plant Tin Mill. She worked the majority of her life as a businesswoman. She owned and operated the Barbeque Restaurant in Downtown Weirton until the business was destroyed by a fire in 1960. She rebuilt the restaurant and opened it up and operated it under the name of the Hi-Lo Lounge. It was located were the Irish Pub is today. Mary was a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, the Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. She is survived by her son, George and Diane Payne; her daughter, Joyce Drane all of Weirton, WV; her three grandchildren, Regina (David McGraw) Costain, Michael (Sara) Payne all of Weirton, WV; and Melissa (Keith) Henthorne of Colorado; and her five great grandchildren, Tanner (Angelica Bryson) Costain, Hunter and Halle Payne and Sydney and Logan Henthorne. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Trisagion Services will be held 7:30 PM Wednesday in the funeral home. Additional visitation will be 10 AMuntil time of funeral services at 11 AM Thursday at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church 3528 West Street Weirton, WV. Father Frank A. Milanese will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Nicholas Cemetery in Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Weirton.
