Ada M. Tonacchio, 83, of Weirton, WV, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. Born May 2, 1933, in Mingo Junction, OH, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Maria Tristani Trombetta. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary A. Tonacchio, on March 3, 1993; brothers, Albert, Delmo and Joseph Trombetta, and a sister, Ann Cosgrove. Ada met her husband while working as a secretary in Washington DC. They married on May 4, 1953. Ada's greatest joy in life was her family. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends. Her sense of humor, kindness, and her ability to nurture relationships, were with her to the very end. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Christian Mothers, Four Seasons, Mingo Junction Senior Center and Italian Sons and Daughters of America. She is survived by her husband, Domenick J.Tonacchio, Sr.; son, Domenick L. Tonacchio (Muriel); daughters, Mary Frances Flora (Dan) and Monica Tonacchio, (Robert Murphy) all of Weirton; a brother, Alexander Trombetta of Springfield, MO; 7 grandchildren, Amber Tonacchio, Erin Slanchik (Bryan), Alexis Mahoney (Joseph), Emily Tonacchio (Kevin Barletta), Nicole Corwell (Christopher), Frank Flora (Maria Gianni) and Domenick Murphy; two great granddaughters, Victoria and Vivianna Corwell; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Church 229 California Avenue Weirton, WV. Reverend Father Dennis Schuelkens, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.

  1. To all of you guys, I loved her like family. She was kind and so loving. When you came to her to talk she gave you her full attention and she listened not only with her mind but with her heart. She made you feel important and special. When you came to her home she welcomed you with open arms. My heart is sad not for her but for us. Man! this breaks my heart and how many times, Mary, did I say “My mom want to come visit.” The memories are way toooo many but are all so great.
