Adam N. Alvaro

Adam N. Alvaro, 81, of Weirton, passed away Friday, October 13, 2006 at his home. Born March 6, 1925 in Clarksburg, WV, he was the son of the late Nick and Flora Lipari Alvaro. Adam was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret Krenic Alvaro; brothers, Frank and Henry Alvaro and sisters Nellie Rokaus and Liberty Straney. Adam retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the Steel Strip. He was Protestant by faith, a member of the WSX 25-Year Club and the VFW Honor Guard, and enjoyed music and spending time with his family. Adam was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. Adam’s survivors include his sons, Nick Alvaro and his wife, Lucy, of CA, Adam “Butch” Alvaro of Weirton, Nick Bressler and his wife, Beth, of Wintersville, OH and Joseph Bressler and his wife, Mary Ann, of St. Clairsville, OH; daughters Diane Mills and Sherrie Alvaro, both of CA; sisters Eva Butto and Virginia Compton, both of Weirton; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his longtime caregiver and companion of several years, Lilly Bressler. The family will receive friends Monday, October 16, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted at 11AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and Weirton Honor Guard.
