Agnes Nettie Cross, 86, loving mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on August 10, 2008. Agnes was born on July 26, 1922 in Beech Bottom, WV to the late Joseph and Hazel Ludewig Peterson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, George D. Cross, brother Archie Peterson and sisters, Dorothy Miller and Betty Gilbert. She was a homemaker and loved gardening. Agnes was a 1940 graduate of Weir High School. She was a charter member of the Weirton Christian & Missionary Alliance where she served the Lord faithfully for over 70 years having served as Church Secretary of Enlargement, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Deaconess Chair, member of the Crusaders Class and Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship, hosted many visiting pastors and missionaries in the family home, and still served as a Deaconess and Nursery Attendant. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Slowikowski and Judy Cross-Sage; son, Bill Cross and his wife, Judy all of Weirton; grandson, Tommy Slowikowski and granddaughter, Pam Bosley (Mike); 2 great-grandchildren, Bryan and Mary Allyson Bosley; brother, John Peterson (Eleanor) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 10AM until the 11AM funeral service at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Reverend David L. Goodin of the Morgantown Christian & Missionary Alliance will preside. Interment will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. Share tributes and memories at www.grecohertnick.com.
