Albert Eugene Collo, 83, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in the Life Line Hospital, Wintersville, OH. Born April 29, 1930 in Weirton, Albert was a son of the late Alexander "Alec" and Emma Boniti Collo. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Charles Collo and two sisters Helen Collo and Mary Ann Frazee. Albert was a baker, employed for 52 years at Weir Cove Bakery. When he was not working, he enjoyed bowling at the Holiday Lanes. An avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan, Albert enjoyed attending sporting events with his brother Frankie. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and the Sons of Italy. He is survived by two sisters Regina Truax and her husband Carl and Janet Backel and her husband John all of Weirton; a brother in law, Gene Frazee; four nieces, Leslie (Chip) Taflan, Denise (Gus) Jones, Deanna (Mike) Hvizdak and Donna (Chris) Kolanko; three nephews, Gary Frazee, Christoper (Bobbi Jo) and Jason (Shannon) Backel; great-nieces and nephews, Alex and Danielle Taflan, Kylie and Colten Kolanko, Alexis and Ashley Jones, Luke, Alayna, Alexandra, Adelena and Annalese Backel, Emalee Hvizdak, and Anthony Frazee; one great-great-nephew Gavin and one great-great niece Kiera. Visitation will be Friday 3-8 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. The Reverend Larry Dorsch will preside. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062. Albert's family would like to thank Weirton Medical Center, Life Line Hospital and a special thank you to the Weirton Geriatric Center, 3rd level, for all their care for Albert.

  6. It was with sadness that I read about Albert’d passing. When I lived in Weirton, I used to bowl with Albert and Frankie. I will never forget the way they could tell a story was like no one else I have every met. They could make me laugh so hard I would cry. It seemed that every time they went to a Pirates game, it would be an adventure.
