Alexander Boag, 76, of Melrose, MA, died Monday, March 01, 2004 at the home of his niece, Carol Ceran. Born September 24, 1927 in Weirton, he is the son of the late Alexander and Margaret L. (Letham) Boag. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Robert L. Boag. After 30 years of service, Alexander retired from Polaroid where he worked as a chemist. Alexander was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melrose, MA, the American Chemical Society and the North Shore Organ Society. He graduated in 1945 from Weir High School and, in 1956, received his Masters Degree in Science from WVU. He also served in the Army during World War II. Alexander traveled around the world, enjoyed photography and cooking. He was an avid collector of classical and jazz music and loved attending symphony concerts. Alexander’s survivors include his nephew Robert D. (Sandy) Boag of Drums, PA; niece Carol (Matt) Ceran of New Cumberland, and a special friend, Joy Alderman of Wakefield, MA. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday with Rev. Terry Stoops officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton, WV.
