Alfred G. Rocchio, 74, of Weirton died Wednesday August 31, 2011, at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born in Colliers, WV, on October 19, 1936, Al was a son of the late Harry and Gertrude Wagner Rocchio. A United States Air Force Veteran, AL retired from Weirton Steel after 30 years of service, where he worked on the railroad, and later was a lab technician in the B.O.P. He also was a licensed barber where he formerly cut hair at Blue Grass's Barber Shop. He was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3734, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Most of all, Al will be remembered as a very kind, gentle, and caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his many friends, and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Eafrati Rocchio, whom he married on February 7, 1981; a son, Alfred "Butch" (Sherry) Rocchio of Colliers, WV; four daughters, Penny (Stanley Monski) McQuiston, and Debbie Rocchio all of Colliers, WV, Shannon (Jason) Backel of Weirton, WV, and Lisa (Paul) Hunter of Charleston, WV; brothers, Harry (Julie) Rocchio of Colliers, WV , and Clemons "Cheech" (Frances) Rocchio of New Cumberland, WV; sister, Barbara (Harold) Huggins, of Wintersville, OH; eleven grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. The Reverend Larry W. Dorsch will preside. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery, with military services conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.

  13. Sue, Shannon, and Lisa – I am so sorry that you lost Al. He was a kind and gentle man. It was plain to see that he loved you all very much. One of my fond memories of Al is when he saved my tomato plants from ruin when Lisa and I were roommates. He also was very sweet to my girls and always told me how pretty they are. He will be terribly missed.
