Andrew "Andy" Kondik, 67, of Weirton, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born February 18, 1943 in Steubenville, OH, he was a son of the late Andrew and Marcella Slowikowski Kondik. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Ann Magnone Kondik and a sister Patty McAbee. With 40 years of service, Andy retired from US Can where he worked as a roll cutter. He was a 1961 graduate of Madonna High School, a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Police Department Reserves, Weirton Volunteer Fire Department Company 1 and the GCIU division of Teamsters Union. Andy served in the National Guard Reserve Unit. Mr. Kondik is survived by his wife Cheryl Howard Gorsuch Kondik of Weirton, whom he married December 17, 1998; son James "Jimmy" Bauer of Glendale, Arizona; sister Marcelene Miller and her husband Robert of Weirton; grandchildren Nicholas, Erica and Tia Bauer and Parker Gorsuch; nieces and nephews James and Scott McAbee, Kimmy Sue Gaddis, Andrea Marziale, Michelle Lynch, Lindsey Newbrough, Halee, Aurielle, and T.J. Howard, Kristi and Josh Frankos; Cheryl's sons, Todd and Robb Gorsuch. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Tuesday. The Reverend Kevin Bowers will officiate. Interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.   1. Cheryl, I am so sorry for your loss. Andy was a long-time friend of mine. He was my best buddy at work and he was always there for me whenever I needed him. We have waxed many cars together. Ted and I will always remember when you two would come to visit how much he enjoyed the cheese and super sud. He was a good friend but more importantly we saw how much he loved you.
