Anita M. (Rog) Rogers
August 12, 1926 ~ July 17, 2007
Anita M. (Rog) Rogers, 80, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the Carriage Inn in Steubenville, Ohio.
Anita was born August 12, 1926 in Wilbur, WV, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Fancie Weekley Mercer.
Anita retired from Weirton Medical Center with 31 years of service as a nurses’ aide. She was an avid Bluegrass fan and loved to play the guitar and sing.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Luther C. Rogers and five brothers, Franklin Laverne, Herbert Wardell, Orville, Roger, and Isaiah.
Anita is survived by one sister, Delores M. Rossi of Steubenville, OH; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; her two best friends, James A. Shreve and Beverly E. Myers; and her beloved cat, “Blossom.”
Visitation will be Thursday, July 19, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, July 20, 2007 with the Reverend Phillip “Chuck” Jerman, Jr. officiating.
Graveside committal services will be held 2:00 PM on Friday in the Wilbur Community Cemetery, Alma, WV.
