Ann Ameredes, 95, of Weirton fell asleep in Christ on January 4, 2020. A daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Kolakis, Ann, was born on August 17, 1924, in Weirton, WV. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Harry Theodore Ameredes who passed away on March 16, 2012; her sisters, Bernice Karageanes, Bertha Frangakis and Dimitra Lazaris; and her daughter in law, Athena (Papaioannis)Ameredes. During World War II, as the men went to war, Ann worked in a steel mill in Detroit Michigan for two years. Ann will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and yia-yia, dedicating her life to kindness and giving to others, especially to her church and family. She never had a harsh word for anyone, always looking for the good in others. She was a devoted parishioner of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, where she volunteered countless hours cooking and baking. She would share her bake goods with anyone who showed up at her doorstep. She was a member of the All Saints Senior Citizens ; All Saints Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society; and a former leader of the All Saints Camp Fire Girls and Cub Scouts. . Ann will be remembered with love by her son, Ted Ameredes of Weirton, and her daughter, Nikki Ameredes of Detroit, MI; four grandchildren, Harry (Amber) Theodore James (Samantha), Alex (Rachel) Ameredes, and Anna (Jim) Kuhn; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Stella Souranis. Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton. A Trisagion service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday. Additional visitation will be 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Weirton. Rev. Fr. Frank A. Milanese will preside. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church 3528 West Street P.O. She was one of the sweetest and nicest ladies that we have ever known. We were blessed to have had Ann and Harry as neighbors for so many years.
