Anna J. Abramowicz, 97, of Charleston, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Marmet Center in Marmet, WV. Born in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Dorothy Kubiak Olenick. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter L. Ferrari, who died in World War II in 1945; and her second husband, Joseph V. Abramowicz. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edmund, Kasmir, Walter and Michael Olenick and sisters, Sophie Pipinos, Laura Markowicz and Mary Newman. Anna enjoyed time with her family and was considered by all to be the life of the party. She was devoted to praying her daily rosary and also enjoyed going to yard sales. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Weirton and the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Charleston, the Polish Women’s Alliance, Christian Mothers and the Rosary Society. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Anderson of Burlington, KY and Karen (Sam) Gross of Charleston; grandchildren, Brian and Chad (Jessica) Anderson; step-grandchildren, September (David) Coll and Joseph Gross; great-grandchildren, William and Makenna Anderson, step-great-grandchildren Emily and Jared Gross, and Sydney Coll; and brother, Frank Olenick of Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Charleston with Rev. Father Brian J. Crenwelge and Monsignor P. Edward Sadie officiating. A committal service will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Weirton. Reverend Mister Vince Olenick will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in memory of Anna to: Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Needy Student Fund, 1114 Virginia St E, Charleston, WV 25301; Alzheimer’s Association WV Chapter, 1601 Second Ave, Charleston, WV 25387 and/or Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25387.
