Anthony Dades, 84, formerly of Weirton, now living in Bethel Park, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 06, 2007 at his home. Born August 11, 1922 in Paleas Fokes, Turkey, he was the son of the late Demetrios Dades and Anastasia Mavroudi Dades Giotambalis. Anthony graduated from Weir High School in 1942. In 1957, he graduated from the College of Steubenville with a degree in accounting. Anthony had 29 years of service with Weirton Steel where he worked as a metallurgical analyst. He was a lifetime member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church where he served as cantor for many years. He was also a member of the All Saints Choir, a life-time member of the Order of Ahepa Hancock Chapter #103, All Saints Senior Citizens, Fokiano Society of Weirton, All Saints Church Council and the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Mt. Lebanon, PA. He served as an assistant Boy Scout Leader, was a former member of the Weirton Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion Post 10, WSX 25-Year Club and AARP. He also served in the US Army Air Force during World War II. Anthony’s survivors include his wife Mary Miller Dades; daughter Stacy Popovich and her husband John; grandchildren Victoria and Anthony Popovich all of Bethel Park, PA; brother-in-law Stelios Spirou of Samos, Greece and sister-in-law Dianna Bostinelos of La Habra, CA and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday 2-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Saturday from 12 noon until the 1PM funeral service at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will be in the All Saints Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Weirton Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
