anthony figlioli
Anthony J. Figlioli, 90, of Weirton, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born March 11, 1921 in Bellaire, OH, he was a son of the late Carlo and Clementina Sabatini Figlioli. He was also preceded in death by his son Anthony C. Figlioli, brother, Frank Figlioli and sisters, Lucy Pagnanelli and Rose Jelski. After over 40 years of service, Mr. Figlioli retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked as a rigger. During World War II, Tony was a staff sergeant M.P. in the United States Air Force. When he was not working, Tony enjoyed making wine, and always looked forward to his annual family vacations, at the beach. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3734 and the Brotherhood of the Grape. He enjoyed sharing his wine with friends, family and the Holy Name Society Annual Wine Tastings. Mr. Figlioli is survived by his wife Beatrice Kozielska Figlioli of Weirton, whom he married February 4, 1950; son Michael Figlioli of Aurora, OH; daughters Rita Christ of Weirton and Maria Grossi and her husband Rich of Paris, PA; brothers Jerry and Albert Figlioli both of Weirton; sister Mary Fazi also of Weirton; four grandchildren, Jason, Alaina Joseph and Michael, and a great grandson Angelo. Friends will be received Saturday 6-8pm and Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10am Monday at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited 6 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
