Anthony “Tony” Porto, of Weirton, formerly of Ambridge and the Pittsburgh area passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. He was 86. Tony was born March 30, 1934, the youngest of thirteen children born to James and Anna Porto. Tony grew up in Ambridge, PA, and was an accomplished athlete at Ambridge High School. He excelled in all sports and was also a Golden Glove boxer. After high school, Tony made a career in painting houses. He was a hard worker, painting houses for well over fifty years. In his retirement years, Tony loved to golf with his friends and play the horses, and dance with his wife, and daughter. All of his life, Tony was proud of his Italian heritage, and especially his large family. He was charismatic, he had a great sense of humor, and his charm was very natural. Everyone who knew him loved him, especially the ladies of all ages. A sharp dresser, Tony was also smooth on any dance floor. Tony nourished his faith at Christ Church at Grove Farms in Sewickley, PA In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by eleven of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Darla Manges Porto, his daughters, Dana Marie (Vincent) Dalesio and Kathy Dougherty; his son, Anthony Porto; his brother, Albert Porto; and his grandchildren, Kassidy and Delaney O’Neill, Sean and Caleb Porto, and Sarah Dougherty. Tony’s family will remember him privately. His cremation is under the care of the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
