Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. So sorry to hear of Mrs. Alrutz passing. I remember her as Miss Mahan when she taught 5th grade at Edgewood School in the Cove. She was an excellent teacher with all the qualities that a great teacher should have. I never forgot an incident where she allowed me to retake an exam on which I had done poorly. She knew that my mother had been hospitalized for surgery and how that affected my grade. It is that kind of teacher that makes you want to study harder. She cared about her students. I thank God for her influence in my education. My prayers and sympathy are with Becky and the family.

  2. Dear Becky and family, I am very sorry for your loss. Barbara was a wonderful neighbor and true family friend. In fact, more like “family”. Each time I was in town, she was certain to walk down the steps to visit. She loved seeing Leah and Benjie too….even the dogs! I am certain she’s with Art and family and friends we’ve lost. I shall miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Love, Nan

  3. The employees, volunteers, and Board members of the Seeing Hand send our sincere condolences on the loss of Mrs.Alrutz. May you and your family feel God peace and comfort at this time and in the days to come. Hold on to your memories.

  4. Read of Barbara’s passing with great sadness. I am the son of Miriam Watson Johnson of Mahan Lane, Follansbee. Her mother, Mabel, would have been the sister of Ness Mahan. Saw Ness, Lenora, the kids at many family picnics in Follansbee. So, much sympathy to the Glovers from a Texas cousin who has kids in PA, CA, VA, TX, and Germany. In other words, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you travel. Phil Johnson
