Betty Jean Bland

Betty Jean Bland, 79, of Weirton died Friday April 3, 2015, in the comforts of her home. Born on August 23, 1935, in Wallace, WV, Betty was a daughter of the late Paul and Ruby Barker Shields. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grover Bland, Jr. on July 8, 2005; and her two daughters, Paula Phillips and Pamela Lynn Bland. Betty was a homemaker. She loved to care for her animals. At one time she had over forty cats that she took care of. She also cared for a couple dogs and loved to feed her birds. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and watching the traffic on her street. She is survived by her three sons, Michael, Robert and Timothy Bland all of Weirton, WV; a brother, Dean Shields; a sister, Deloris Gill; and her two grandchildren, Josh and Heidi Danielson. Visitation will be 9 AM until time of service at 11 AM Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
