Billy "Bill" Freeland, 83, of Burgettstown, PA, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home. Born January 26, 1931 in Harrisville, WV, he was a son of the late John and Susie Gattrell Freeland. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. From 1950 2010, Bill worked as a self-employed truck driver who also enjoyed doing the mechanical work on his trucks, tractors and other equipment. Every day, he visited the diner to have his coffee and meet with his friends. He attended the Paris Nazarene Church. Bill and Anita enjoyed traveling during the winter months to Florida in their RV, and Bill proudly served his country in the US Navy. Bill is survived by his wife Anita Strother Moore Freeland, whom he married in 1986; and his children Marsha (Russ) Newman of Geneva, OH, Carol (Jim) Kranak of Dothan, AL, Michelle Freeland of New Cumberland and Gail Gardner of Mentor, OH; Michael A. (Ashley Shiring) Freeland of Weirton; Teresa (David) Stetar of Follansbee and Susie (Dave) Cervenak of Weirton; Larry A. (Judy) Moore of New Manchester, WV, Montgomery Keith and Wade Ray (Cathy) Keith all of Follansbee, WV; brother Jim (Erma) Freeland of Columbus, OH; sister Emma Gabbert of Crisfield, MD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday 5-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 2PM Monday. Interment will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
