charles locascio
Charles S. Locascio, 94, of Weirton, died Sunday May 23, 2010, in the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born November 3, 1915, in Steubenville, OH, Charles was a son of the late Charles L. and Lucille Cordaro Locascio. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anne DiLorito Locascio in 2007; a daughter, Mary Charlene Locascio in 1951; a brother, Samuel Locascio, sisters, Grace Basil, Phyllis Venci, Rose Eannerelli and Ann Kasica. Charles retired from the tin mill of Weirton Steel, where he had 42 years of service. He also was a contractor who specialized in cement finishing. Charles served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was very proud of his Italian heritage, being Roman Catholic and a Democrat. He was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Saint Paul Holy Name, Knights of Columbus 3734, the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, and the Three Score Seniors. He loved music, especially the big band sounds of the 1940's. His survivors include his two daughters, Kathleen Culler, and Lucille (Tom) Angelo; his sister, Virginia Price all of Weirton, WV; his grandchildren, Jay (Jenny) Culler of New Philadelphia, OH, Noel (Bruno) DeCaria of Weirton, WV, Megan (Scott) Eafrati of Cannonsburg, PA, Shannon (Travis) Rickards of Louisville, KY; his great grandchildren, Devin and Braden Culler, Anthony Luca DeCaria, Mario Eafrati, Jackson and Cooper Rickards. Friends and relatives will be received 2-7 PM Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11AM Thursday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Larry Dorsch, will preside. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church 140 Walnut Street Weirton, WV 26062.
