Charles William Smith,90, of Wheeling formerly of Weirton, WV, died July 8, 2022, at Genesis Healthcare Center in New Martinsville, WV. He was born May 17, 1932, in Davisville, West Virginia, a son of the late Edward and Vesta (Hissom) Smith. In addition to his parents, his wife, Delores M. (Klakos) Smith and his sister Barbara Zagula preceded Charles in death. Charles attended Burgettstown High School and was a Veteran serving in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation and was the co-owner of Smith Plumbing, Inc. Charles enjoyed being with family and friends and greeted many that he encountered with good wishes. He is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Debi) of Wheeling, WV and Kenneth (Vickie) of Steubenville, OH; daughter, Deanna (Bill) of Chicago, IL; brother, Robert Smith of Bethel Park, PA; sisters, Audra Corso of Burgettstown, Karen Anderson of Toronto, OH and Carol Bassett of Paden City, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, July 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. A memorial mass will be celebrated 9:30 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church 200 Preston Avenue Weirton. Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will preside.
