  13. Shirley, Marvin and I are so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful Chester. He was a rare man, sensitive, kind, loving, generous and very welcoming when we spent Sundays with the Guz family. Marvin commented more than once on Chester’s keen intelligence and his interest in the outer world despite his serious health problems. He was not once self pitying. We will miss his gentle spirit, but, fortunately for us, Chester passed his finest traits on to our son-in-law, Michael. Stay strong my friend. You are in our thoughts. Carol

  14. Dear Mrs. Guz and Family, I deeply regret your loss. Chester was a dear friend. We had many discusions about our home lives on the fantail (rear deck) of the U.S.S. Knapp. Chester’s longing to be home with his new wife and his unwavering love was always the center of all our discussions. Again, Shirley, I feel I know you personally because of Chester’s constant and persistant recall of your life together. I appreciate Mike’s call to notify me about Chester. I am so grateful for the recent phone conversation I had with Guz. Because of my treatments for cancer I will be unable to travel and attend Chester’s memorial. My wife and I are praying for you. Sincerely, Paul& Charlotte Miller
