Chester J. Trojan
February 20, 1919 ~ June 14, 2006
Chester J. Trojan, 87, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born February 20, 1919 in Benwood, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Carolina Opkra Trojanowski. Chester was also preceded in death by his wife Martha J. (Slusarek) Trojan on July 5, 1999; brothers Bernard “Babe” Trojan and Walter Trojanowski and sister Bernice Koper.
Chester retired December 31, 1979 from Weirton Steel where he worked as an assistant roller on the Number 5 Tandem and a welder/mechanic on the Number 9 Tandem. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, the WSX 25-Year Club, VFW 2716, Weirton Moose Lodge 688 and the Evert Maki American Legion Post 10. He was one of the founding members of the Pleasant Valley Country Club where he held the club champion status. Chester was an avid golfer. Over the years, he had a total of eight “holes-in-one”. It was not unusual for him to drive all over the tri-state area to participate in or to watch amateur sporting events. He served as Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Chester’s survivors include his son Joseph M. Trojan and his wife Kathy of Simpsonville, SC; daughters Donna Billcheck and her husband Robert of Williamsburg, VA; Marsha Casto and her husband David and Denise Crow and her husband Gary all of Weirton; grandchildren Scot & Michael Casto, Justin Billcheck, Harrison Crow, Matthew and Caroline Trojan and great-grandchildren Carter and Elizabeth Casto.
The family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Church with Reverend Father Kent Durig presiding. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and Weirton Honor Guard.

Our prayers and sympathy to the entire family. In recent years we would see him at various places and he would always want to talk about his children and grandchildren and about our times at the Little League ball games.
