Chester Roy Powell

Chester Roy Powell, 83, of Burgettstown, PA, died Tuesday April 14, 2009, at his home.
Chester was born on January 24, 1926, at Pine Grove, WV, a son of the late Irvin and Cora Elizabeth Satterfield Powell. He was also preceded in death by a son, James David Powell; a brother, Dale Powell; sisters, Alta Roberts, Luda Wilson, and Gladys Fisher.
Chester retired from Weirton Steel Blast Furnace, with 33 years of service. When he was not working, Chester was known to be an outdoorsman, where he loved to hunt and fish.
He was a member of the Weirton Heights Church of Christ and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.
Chester is survived by his loving wife, Audra I Wells Powell, whom he married on July 17, 1948; his two sons, Carl F. and Barbara Powell of Burgettstown, PA, and Larry R. Powell of Weirton, WV; a daughter, Linda Darlene Corwin of Burgettstown, PA; a brother, Drexel Powell of Mannington, WV; five grandchildren, April Simms, Christopher Powell, Brandy Powell Cooke, Ashley Powell O’Neal, Brandon Corwin; six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 12:45 PM Friday.
Minister Steve Smithbauer will preside.
Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens.
