Clarence H. Riffee, 79, of New Cumberland, WV, passed away Wednesday July 30, 2014, at his home. Born November 19, 1934 in Weirton, he was a son of the late Leslie and Marie Stackpole Riffee. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Kanai Riffee in February, 1995; his son, Scott Riffee, and his sisters, JoAnn Volosin and Lois Jean Newman. With 35 years of service, Sonny retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a Scarfer in the Blooming Mill. He was also a talented contractor who built many homes, including his own. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the AF & AM Lodge 22, Northern Panhandle Shrine Club, Royal and Select Masons of Ohio Union Council No 2, Hancock County Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, Allied Masonic Degree Council 21, Osiris Shrine, Wheeling, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Fort Henry York Rite College No 61, Red Cross of Constantine Mountain State Conclave, and the Weirton Commandry, where he was past Grand Commander of West Virginia . He was also a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and the Over the Hill Gang Golfers. Sonny is survived by his four daughters, Karen Riffee of Hillsboro, OH, Sharon Cosenza of Weirton, Brigette Waggoner of Hillsboro, OH and Melissa Riffee of Pleasant Plains, OH; sister Christine Lipke of Weirton and grandchildren Tyler Rodgers and John Riffee. Visitation will be held 1PM to 3PM and 6PM to 8PM Friday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated on 11 AM Saturday. Rev. Michael J. Rowe will preside. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard and graveside Masonic services will be conducted by AF & AM Lodge 22. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knight Templar Eye Foundation, 1033 Long Prairie Road, Suite 5, Flower Mound, TX 75022.
