costas flatsousis
Costas “Gus” Flatsousis of Weirton, WV, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was 91 years old. Costas was born in Chios, Greece, on December 18, 1929, the youngest of four sons, born to George and Maria Avagalinos Flatsousis. Costas served in the Greek Army and worked on the cargo boats before traveling to the United States of America. He arrived in Massachusetts in 1957. Greeted by his family, Gus settled in Weirton, WV. In 1959 he married Stella Kamarados. A talented handyman, Gus started his career in the maintenance department at the Millsop Community Center. His entrepreneurial spirit lead him to purchase Domanico’s Beverage Shop, where he became the owner and operator. Located in the South End of Steubenville, Gus’s American dream became a reality as Domanico’s became known throughout the Valley as the place to go for pop, beer, and wine. For relaxation, Costas loved to tend to his garden, and he found enjoyment in sharing his vegetables with family and friends. Most of all, when you look at Costas’s life, you would say it centered around his family and his church. He was the happiest when he was with his family and his church families of both All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville. In addition to his parents, Costas was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Kamarados Flatsousis on November 24, 2005; and his three brothers, Panteli, Lefteri, and Argiri Flatsousis. He will be remembered with love by the Flatsousis and Kamarados families nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; his All Saints and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church families, and last but not least, all his friends who were number one plus plus plus. Due to the global pandemic, private family services will be held on Saturday at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. Rev. Fr. Frank A. Milanese will preside. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church 3528 West Street PO Box 128, Weirton, WV 26062.
