Debra Marie Zietak

Debra Marie Zietak 52, of Weirton, passed away at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Monday, June 15, 2020. Debra was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on November 30, 1967, the loving daughter to Arlene Holzshu Rupert, and David Frank, and the late William Rupert. She was Catholic by faith and was a member of the 1985 class of Carrick High School of Pittsburgh. Debra married Thomas Zietak on March 21, 1992, and they had the blessing of three children . Debra never knew anything but happiness, her mother Arlene said, “she was a very giving person, always ready to help someone, giving them the shirt off her own back.” Additionally, she was a tremendous caregiver, taking care of her mother after the passing of her father. Debra will always cherish the memories she made with her husband Thomas, her children, and grandchildren. They were the center of her life. Debra was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and worked many years in the health insurance industry. In addition to her mother, Arlene, Debra will be remembered with love by her husband Thomas Zietak; son, Zachary T. Zietack of Weirton; daughters, Kayla Love of Wellsburg and Kelsey Zietak of Weirton, brother William (Jennifer) Rupert of Weirton and grandchildren, Abigail Love, Logan Henderson, Aubrey Zietak, and Aiden Reed. Visitation was held Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A funeral liturgy with Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 200 Preston Ave, Weirton WV. The Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at StJude.org. Debra will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered as a true beacon of joy to her family. We will miss her giving spirit and unselfish nature. She will live forever in our hearts.
