Diana M. Macik, 59, of Weirton died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born on October 23, 1942 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Jack and Dawn Ide Cottrell of Manlius, NY. Diana worked for the United Postal Service in Steubenville, OH, where she had 15 years of service. She served her country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Diana was a lector and member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Paul's Christian Mothers, Tri State Tour Riders Club, and served as the Secretary for the American Postal Workers Union. She is survived by her husband, Francis (Frank) Macik of Weirton; one son, Jeffrey Sobel and his wife Becky Sue of Osan Air Force Base, South Korea; one daughter, Cynthia Sobel Pixley and her husband Matthew of Fredericksburg, VA; one step son, Francis Michael Macik and his wife Kelly of Burgettstown, Pa; one step daughter, Elise Shifflett and her husband Dan of Ashburn, VA; one granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Shifflett of Ashburn, VA; two brothers, Gary Cottrell of Fayettesville, NY and Karl Keller of Denver, Colorado; and four sisters, Faith Stephenson of Ottawa, Canada, Anita Cottrell of Manlius, NY, Laurie Sitterly of Syracuse, NY, and Florence Grant of Weedsport, NY. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where a vigil service will be held 7:30 PM Wednesday. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Interment will be at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.   2. There are no words to heal the pain and loss. WE can only say that we feel the empty space she has left in our lives. We called Diana our friend and riding buddy, she will be missed.
